When I built my first patio cover, I was working for my Dad in the 70's.
back then we ordered them for our customers from Alcoa Aluminum products, there wasn't nearly the selection availability we have today.
They came as a kit with scroll posts, a piano hinge, a few panels and a bag of bolts.
I have been building patio's and carports for customers ever since, with every new system that came out.
We build flat pan or insulated covers,screen rooms, glass rooms, carports and much more.
Over the years I have installed for many company's, and taught a few of them how to order the materials etc.
these day's it's easy to open the phone book and find plenty of patio cover company's, most of which are sales people that hire subcontractor's whose main goal is to get in,get out and get the check.

We only use flat pan or insulated panels because that's what last and maintains its value the longest.
